Questions and Answers About Our
Book on Sugar Addiction

Prior to completing the manuscript for the book, back when it was still in the germinal and formative stage, we were asked a few pointed questions about this project by our editor.

Playing devil’s advocate, she wanted to know why we thought our message would have any meaningful impact in anyone’s life.

Following are the bulk of her questions and our replies. Hopefully this exercise will help you gain greater perspective on why it is important to recognize and effectively deal with the problem of sugar addiction.

Question:  How do I know if sugar addiction is a problem for me?

Answer:  Most sugar addicts have no idea their relationship with sugar and its byproducts can advance to the point where it can cause emotional turmoil, stress and so many health problems.

Question:  How do I go about taking care of this problem of sugar addiction and if so, what’s in it for me?

Answer: It is not so much a matter of taking care of or getting rid of anything as it is of understanding what is taking place in your life. As your understanding grows about what sugar addiction is, how it starts and how its tentacles spread far and wide into your mind, emotions and your physical body, so will your ability to deal with it effectively in a natural, biologically friendly, emotionally compatible and psychologically sound way.

What's in it for you? That's easy. YOU! Perhaps the real thinking, breathing, emoting and functioning YOU that you may never have known before. You’ve spent so much time running daily errands for your addictive sugar dragon that you have had virtually no quality time left for YOU, to determine what you really want from life and what you are prepared to give back in return. There's a nifty four letter word for you: GIVE. Bear in mind that sugar addiction, as with all addictive behavior, is an ongoing selfish act of grasping, clutching and taking. The recovery process teaches you how to selflessly let go, cease grasping and clutching entirely. You learn to give of yourself in all that you do, whether it be with family, at work or at play. You share more of who you really are with those around you. The more you practice sharing and giving of your kind thoughts, your encouraging words and of your helpful actions, the easier it is for you to be an infectious source of empowerment for others dear to you.

Question: How will my coming to grips with my sugar addiction make society better?

Answer: Society represents a concept of how people living together under a common ideological flag can work synergistically toward the common good of all its members. When one member of society is weak or falters in any perceivable way, such as through addictive behavior, society as a whole suffers in some tangible way. When any one of us advances our knowledge and rises above something such as an addiction to sugar, or some other bad habit, society as a whole is cheering from the sidelines, waiting for the next homerun pitch to be thrown. The more functional members we have in our society, the better and more efficiently that society as a whole can operate. Never underestimate the intrinsic, real-money value a reformed and recovering sugar addict brings to society's table.

Question:
Will this affect health care costs?

Answer: Yes. They will decrease dramatically. Sugar addiction, which leads to so many eating disorders and ultimately to physiological and mental dysfunction, is a major player in the health care services industry. Without all of the sugar-related eating disorders and subsequent health issues arising from such, there will be a sharp reduction in those treatments and therapies that target this market. When people who are afflicted with the many sugar-related eating disorders gain a clear understanding of how they have encased themselves within the walls of their own self imposed sugar prison, and learn how to correctly and effectively deal with their addictive habit, the walls will come tumbling down. The many health care systems of the world will have one less major headache to worry about.

Question: How can I do this program for myself and feed my family at the same time?

Answer:  When you, and even your family, begin to see lasting, desirable results in your own life perhaps they will want to know what kind of difference our message can make in their lives as well. Wouldn’t you feel better knowing you are truly feeding your beloved family nutritious meals rather than setting them up for ill health later in life?

Question:
How do I know this isn't another one of those one-size-fits-all diets? Yeah, it worked for you, but will it work for my nutritional type, metabolism, and genetics?

Answer:  You alone must determine what will work best for you through trial and error. Yes, you will make a few mistakes here and there and you’ll turn up a rock or two with a lot of worms underneath on occasion. If your desire is pure and your mind is set on reaching your goal of optimum health, you will know when the right thing comes along for you.

Question: Will the health restoring protocol in the book make me feel worse for a while?

Answer: Building an addiction to sugar is much like tying a knot in a rope. It was easy tying it and took little effort. But when you attempt to untie the knot it takes energy and concentration to complete the task. Yes, untying the knot of your sugar addiction will not be a joy ride for you mentally, emotionally or physically. There are remnants of the knot in every facet of who you are. This is why our message can be so helpful and appropriate for you.

Question: How soon will I see results?

Answer:  Results depend upon the person, their motivation and commitment. We hope our program will speed you along your way to your desired results as quickly as possible.

Question: What will keep me from going back to my old ways?

Answer:  Once you have taken the initial, necessary steps to begin reversing your addiction to sugar, we will help you fortify yourself against a return to the sugar prison.
